Brandy Moss
If she can help in any way, Brandy Moss is all for it.
For nearly a decade, the Winona native has been an integral part of 爱爱直播鈥檚 staff in the Department of Procurement and Contracts, the university鈥檚 purchasing agency. After graduating from East Mississippi Community College, Moss was hired in 2007 as the department鈥檚 invoice control clerk. After a year鈥檚 time, she was promoted to procurement card specialist before working her way up to project coordinator.
鈥淚t鈥檚 been an awesome journey. I love where I am, and I love my job. I work with great people, and I couldn鈥檛 ask for a better boss,鈥 Moss said, expressing particular gratitude for the support of Procurement and Contracts Director Don Buffum.
鈥淒on is awesome. If you want to get additional education or move up in your work, he encourages it. He鈥檚 behind you all the way,鈥 added Moss, who currently is pursuing a bachelor鈥檚 in business administration at 爱爱直播.
In addition to regular interactions with co-workers, Moss appreciates opportunities to assist and learn from colleagues across campus.
鈥淲e work with every department at some point in time, sometimes daily,鈥 she said. 鈥淭here鈥檚 a lot of communication because we want to make sure we鈥檙e all on the same page. It鈥檚 neat to learn about the different things鈥攍ike research鈥攖hat departments at the university are doing.鈥
Outside of her 爱爱直播 duties, Moss enjoys working outdoors and hosting gatherings with her family, which she describes as 鈥渕y everything.鈥 Moss said she has been busy of late with training for her first half-marathon that will take place Saturday [Dec. 3]. Part of St. Jude Children鈥檚 Research Hospital Memphis Marathon Weekend, the event is designed to promote awareness and raise funds to help in the fight against childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
鈥淭hey call us [participants] St. Jude Heroes, but the kids are the real thing,鈥 Moss said of the hospital鈥檚 patients. 鈥淭hey are so much stronger. I鈥檝e told people I don鈥檛 care if it takes me 12 hours; I鈥檓 crossing that finish line,鈥 she said with a smile.
